Super Sew Sunday

Thanks to those of you who showed up for our annual Super Sew marathon at the church on Sunday.  There were about 20 of us, and we had quite an efficient assembly line in the works.  Many people brought completed tops with them ready to be assembled into quilts.  Mr. Speziale showed up and took photos for the Evening Sun.

We started the day with a brand new roll of batting from JoAnne Fabrics and it wasn't long before we ran out.  We sent Elaine out on a batting run and she returned with about 6 bags of king size batt and we burned through that too.  By the time we closed up shop for the day we had sewed (and eaten) our way to having 86 quilts in various stages of completion.

I believe the quilts will be distributed to Catholic Charities, Roots & Wings, The Clothes Closet -Oxford, and The Vets Home.  I'm sure the hospital will get a share as well.

Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed, from making blocks, tops, whole quilts, attended Super Sew, donated supplies, and anything else I may have forgotten.  It was a very successful day!

On Sunday February 15th, The United Church of Christ held a quilt dedication ceremony for all the completed quilts.  It gives the congregation an opportunity to see the work we do and how we use the space they are so generous to share with us for our meetings. Thank you!
